PRODUCTION NOTES
The Challenge
The manufacturing guidelines require precise text debossing on the front cover and spine directly over a layer of anti-scratch matte lamination. This specific combination poses a high risk of creating air bubbles around the debossed typography if the lamination film fails to bond tightly with the underlying paper stock.
Our Solution
A rigorous pre-production lamination adhesion test must be conducted to verify film bonding quality. Operators must closely monitor the case-making and debossing parameters during production to ensure zero bubble formation.
The Challenge
The hardcover casing features a strict fixed-color position on the spine that requires precise coordination with post-press registered debossing and localized spot gloss UV on designated color bands. Even minor alignment deviations across these multiple steps will cause visible defects.
Our Solution
Maintain strict and uniform consistency of the gripper and side guides across all HUV printing phases. Utilize high-precision screen-printing and die-cutting plates to ensure that subsequent debossing and spot UV registrations match flawlessly.
The Challenge
The project specifies printing a metallic Pantone spot color (PMS 8503C) on the reverse side of uncoated endpaper stock. Achieving rich, perfectly solid ink coverage on uncoated paper without mottling is inherently difficult due to high paper absorption.
