PRODUCTION NOTES
The Challenge
For this 2nd printing, the client demanded the colors and tactile finish match the 1st edition perfectly. The 200gsm matte inner pages required 5-color printing (4C + Spot Color) and a specific full-coverage varnish. Any slight deviation in the gloss level would ruin the sophisticated tone of this design book.
Our Solution
Custom Hybrid Varnish: To perfectly replicate the original luster and feel, we formulated a precise "60% Gloss + 40% Matte Varnish" mix. This custom coating protected the heavy ink while delivering a premium, semi-matte visual effect.
Dual-Verification Spot Color: The slipcase inner lining required a full-coverage dyed spot green. We printed the slipcase outer wrap first. Once its anti-scratch matte lamination was approved, we used it as the physical benchmark to micro-adjust the spot green ink for the inner lining, ensuring absolute color harmony.
The Challenge
The hardcover used a specialty grey-green linen wrapped over a heavy 4mm greyboard. The design called for matte gold hot stamping (Kurz 429), "deep debossing," and a manually tipped-in photo plate. Stamping on textured linen often results in broken foil, while deep debossing risks tearing the fabric or warping the thick board.
Our Solution
Calibrated Brass Tooling: We custom-machined deep-engraved brass dies and conducted extensive temperature/pressure tests specifically for this linen. We identified the exact threshold to achieve a crisp, profound deboss without scorching or breaking the fabric fibers.
Zero-Tolerance Tipping: Within the deep recess, our artisan team used high-tack eco-friendly adhesives to manually place the anti-scratch laminated photo plate. The precise fit created a luxurious, framed-art appearance.
The Challenge
This set, featuring both a 4mm board slipcase and a 4mm board book, weighed over 3.2 kilograms (7 lbs) per unit. During international freight, such heavy products are highly susceptible to crushed corners if not packaged correctly.
Our Solution
V-Groove Slipcase: We utilized V-groove cutting for the slipcase boards to create razor-sharp 90-degree corners. This provided a perfect, snug fit (neither too loose nor too tight), preventing the heavy book from shifting inside.
Triple-Layer "Box-in-Box" Suspension: We implemented a maximum-security packaging SOP: 1) Shrink-wrap the slipcase; 2) Insert into a custom corrugated mailer box; 3) Employ a "Box-in-Box" system using heavy-duty K=K cartons, suspended by molded pulp corner protectors between the inner and outer boxes. This shock-absorbing structure guarantees mint-condition delivery.
