PRODUCTION NOTES
The Challenge
The project encompasses four distinct language editions (English, French, Italian, and Spanish) with varied distribution requirements, including mixed sea and air freight. Each edition has unique quantity splits across multiple addresses, and the French version requires shrink-wrapping while all other versions must remain un-shrink-wrapped to meet environmental standards. Managing this complexity poses a significant risk of shipping errors and mislabeling.
Our Solution
Establish color-coded assembly and staging areas for each language edition and shipping destination. Implement a mandatory "Check-Before-Packing" protocol where the shipping address and language edition are cross-verified against the master distribution manifest before final carton sealing.
The Challenge
Due to late-stage environmental policy changes, the client mandated that barcode stickers be applied directly to the back cover for most language editions, instead of on the shrink-wrap. Precision is critical, as the barcode must be placed exactly 6mm from the book edge and 4.7mm from the bottom edge. Manual application at scale increases the likelihood of placement drift, which could lead to scanning failures.
Our Solution
Develop custom physical alignment jigs for the manual packing station that lock the book in place and provide a fixed frame for barcode application. This ensures that every unit in the 17,500-copy run maintains uniform sticker positioning regardless of the operator.
The Challenge
The project must adhere to FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification and sustainability standards while maintaining high-fidelity print quality for the "Greek Kitchen" cookbook. Using specific sustainable paper stocks (Arena Rough White and various FSC Mix Credit papers) requires precise ink density management to avoid issues with absorbency or color shifting across the four different language versions.
Our Solution
Prioritize the "Fogra" standardization process as per established print requirements to ensure color stability across all language versions. Use the specified FSC-certified papers and conduct routine density checks against the approved master contract proofs to ensure that sustainability does not compromise the visual impact of the photography and text.
